GENERATORS
-
Yes. Next Level Electric is a certified Kohler and Generac dealer, handling full standby generator installation including sizing, transfer switch wiring, and hookup. As a certified dealer, we can source and supply the generator directly — you don't need to purchase it separately. This ensures you get the right unit for your home or business and have it installed by a certified technician.
-
Next Level Electric can supply the generator as a certified Kohler and Generac dealer — you don't have to source it yourself. This is actually the better route, because the installer determines the right unit for your load requirements, and buying through a certified dealer ensures full warranty coverage and proper installation documentation.
-
A standby generator is permanently installed outside your home or business, connected directly to your electrical system through a transfer switch. It starts automatically when power goes out and runs on natural gas or propane.
A portable generator is a mobile unit that runs on gasoline and must be manually started and connected. Standby generators are safer, more convenient, and better suited for whole-home power backup. Next Level Electric installs standby units from Kohler and Generac.
EV CHARGERS & SMART HOMES
-
Yes. Next Level Electric installs Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations for homes and businesses. A proper EV charger installation requires a dedicated circuit and a panel capacity assessment, both handled as part of the installation. If your panel needs an upgrade to support the charger, that can be addressed at the same time.
-
Yes. Next Level Electric is Lutron certified for smart lighting and home automation installation. Whether you're building new, remodeling, or looking to upgrade an existing home, smart lighting controls, automated dimmers, and integrated home systems can be incorporated. If you're planning a remodel or new build, it's worth asking about smart home options early in the process — it's much easier to plan for during rough-in than to add later.
CONSTRUCTION & REMODELS
-
Yes. New construction electrical and remodel electrical are among Next Level Electric's most common project types. This includes full rough-in wiring, panel installation, service setup, fixture installation, and custom electrical design. We work directly with contractors and homeowners throughout southwest Michigan.
-
Yes. Next Level Electric is increasingly involved in design-build lighting projects, working with homeowners and contractors on the layout and placement of lighting, not just the wiring. If you have a remodel or new build coming up, it's worth having a conversation about the lighting design early. The decisions made at rough-in directly affect what's possible once the walls are closed.
-
As early as possible. Electrical planning affects framing, insulation, and finish work. Getting a licensed electrician involved during the planning phase (before walls go up) ensures your electrical system is designed right for the space rather than worked around after the fact. It also avoids costly change orders. Call Next Level Electric early in your project timeline at (269) 501-1229.
-
In Michigan, most electrical work beyond basic fixture swaps requires a licensed electrician and a permit. This includes panel upgrades, service changes, new circuit installation, wiring for additions or remodels, generator hookups, EV charger installation, and any work that touches your home's main electrical system. Unpermitted electrical work can create problems when selling a home, void homeowner's insurance claims, and create serious safety hazards. If you're unsure whether your project requires a licensed electrician, the safest and cheapest answer is to call and ask. (269) 501-1229.
-
Yes, for most electrical work in Michigan a permit is required. This includes panel upgrades, new circuits, rewiring, generator installations, EV charger installs, and electrical work as part of a remodel or addition. Permits exist to ensure the work is inspected and meets code, which protects you, your family, and your property value. Next Level Electric handles the permitting process as part of every applicable project, so you don't have to navigate it yourself.
